New Restaurant Planned For Downtown Detroit

Detroit (WWJ)  -- A new restaurant is coming to downtown Detroit.  Finn and Porter will be inside the new Fort Shelby Doubletree Hotel that is set to open in December.

Executives with the new hotel say Finn and Porter is known for being jazzy and hip with fresh seafood, prime steaks and creative regional sushi.

"We envision this restaurant and bar to be the new place to be seen downtown," said Shannon Dunavent, General Manager at the Fort Shelby Doubletree Guest Suites Hotel in a statement.

The restaurant is expected to put 40 people to work.

"Finn and Porter is a smaller, successful, award winning restaurant chain that could have chosen any other state for its fifth location," said Dunavent. "Choosing downtown Detroit symbolizes their commitment to the revitalization of the city."

Finn and Porter has locations in Washington DC, Austin, Texas, Missoula, Montana and Alexandria Virginia.

The historic Fort Shelby Hotel is undergoing an 82-million dollar renovation.  When it opens in December it will include 204 luxury suites, conference meeting rooms, and 63 upscale apartments.
