Detroit (WWJ) -- Something new for students interested in a career in the arts or design. "Henry Ford Academy: School For Creative Studies" opens its doors to students in September 2009.
The new school results from a partnership between Henry Ford Institute and Detroit's College of Creative Studies. CCS President Rick Rogers says the New Henry Ford Academy will be a 90/90 school.
That means it is committed to graduating 90 percent of students, and that 90 percent of graduates will go on to higher education.
The new charter school will be located in Detroit's New Center area, in the old Argonaut Building, donated to CCS by General Motors. The school will serve more than 400 students in grades 6, 7 and 9 in its first year, and grow to 880 students in grades 6 through 12.
