Money Management

One real life application of math for teenagers is keeping track of expenses. Most young people do not think much about how they spend their allowance or earnings from a job.

As they get older, they will need to do a better job understanding where their money goes. In a notebook or on a computer, have your child write down all the money he or she spends for one week – including anything cash or credit. This includes everything from movies, to gas, to savings.

At the end of the week, sit down and go over expenses. Kids will most likely see how expensive life is, especially once they start paying attention to the things they purchase daily.
