Michigan Celebrates Transportation!

DEARBORN (WWJ)  -- It's National Transportation Week -- a time when the automotive industry gets to look in the rear view mirror -- and at the road ahead.  WWJ Newsradio 950's Pat Sweeting stopped by the Automotive Hall of Fame , were a big slate of events was unveiled on Monday.

The week of May 11-17 the accomplishments of the auto industry are being highlighted during events like the ITS Michigan Annual Meeting and Exposition Tuesday and Wednesday in Novi; the WWJ Newsradio 950 business breakfast 'The Future Of Transportation In Southeast Michigan' at the Henry Ford on Thursday; and a Wayne County Transportation Expo on Wednesday. 

But, Paul Mascarenes , vice president of Global Engineering at Ford Motor Company, tells us a big Model T centennial celebration is slated for later this year in Dearborn -- over the weekend of September 5th, "We've got about 200 Model Ts which we'll be gathering at the Ford World Headquarters here in Dearborn," he said. 

"As part of that celebration, we'll recap the past hundred years and how we got here," Mascarenes said.

Then August of this year, look out for Autopalooza, the Woodward Dream Cruise, and the Meadow Brook Concours d'Elegance.
