Michael Collins

Born and raised in Detroit, Michael Collins says he's been hooked on broadcasting since he was a kid. At the age of 9 he would ride his bike over to the Eastland shopping center to watch Bob Allison broadcast his show from WWJ's remote radio studio.

After working his way through Ferris State as a disc jockey for WLAV in Grand Rapids, Mike worked at radio stations in Cleveland and Denver before returning to Detroit to host a morning show and later, a late night talk show at WRIF.

Jumping from radio to television news, Collins anchored and reported for stations in Lansing, Cincinnati and Detroit, winning 13 Emmy's and other journalism awards including an Emmy for his anchor work at Fox 2/WJBK.

Behind the camera, Collins has traveled the country producing entertainment segments for ABC's "The View," VH-1, E! Entertainment, Fox News and CNN.

In the corporate world he's created video production for companies like Ford Motor Company, Dow Chemical and Avery-Dennison.

Currently a fill-in anchor, Collins says working at WWJ just seems like a logical place to be. "As far as I'm concerned WWJ is where it started," he said. "As a kid, the process of  'live' broadcasting fascinated me. It still does ."
