One D, a collaboration of six civic organizations working to transform the Detroit region has received funding for its efforts from five southeast Michigan foundations.
Grants totaling $810,000 over a three-year period were provided by the Hudson-Webber Foundation; Kresge Foundation; Community Foundation for Southeast Michigan; McGregor Fund; and Skillman Foundation.
The grants bring the total budget to $1.5 million, including contributions from One D partner organizations. The collaboration is focused on five priorities: economic prosperity, educational preparation, quality of life, race relations and regional transit.
The six regional civic organizations that form One D are: The Cultural Alliance of Southeastern Michigan, The Detroit Metro Convention and Visitors Bureau, Detroit Regional Chamber, Detroit Renaissance, New Detroit, and United Way for Southeastern Michigan.
Business and civic leader Edsel B. Ford II, who has been leading the One D effort, will present the first One D Scorecard at the opening session of the 2008 Mackinac Policy Conference, to be held May 28-30. The scorecard presentation will chart the progress toward the five regional priorities.
