Kettering University in Flint has received a $26,000 grant from The UPS Foundation, the charitable arm of UPS. 

The grant will contribute $10,000 to Kettering’s UPS Foundation Scholarships and $16,000 for four students to participate in the Academically Interested Minorities program on campus.

Kettering President Stan Liberty accepted the $26,000 check from Randy Stashick, vice president of Engineering at UPS, during a recent Kettering Board of Trustees meeting. Stashick is a member of Kettering’s board.

“In this economic time, this is a very significant gift for us in support of scholarships and our AIM program,” said Dennis Washington, vice president for university advancement.  “We are extraordinarily grateful to The UPS Foundation, with special thanks to Trustee Randy Stashick for helping us.”  

Established in 1951 and based in Atlanta, Ga., the UPS Foundation identifies specific areas where its backing clearly impacts social issues. In support of this strategic approach, the UPS Foundation has identified the following focus areas for giving: non-profit effectiveness, economic & global literacy, encouraging diversity, community safety and environmental sustainability.

In 2007, the UPS Foundation distributed $46.4 million worldwide through grants that benefit organizations or programs such as Kettering’s AIM program, which provides support for building stronger communities.
