On Monday, June 12, the General Motors Heritage Center in Sterling Heights will open to The Engineering Society of Detroit (ESD) for an exclusive never-before-seen tour -- celebrating GM’s 100th Anniversary by providing an exclusive opportunity to be part of automotive history.
The GM Heritage Center first opened in 2004 as a way to house GM’s archives and collections of historically significant cars. The 81,000 square foot facility houses vehicles, artifacts and historical archives that showcase the significant accomplishments of GM. The Heritage Collection of vehicles available for display numbers more than 600 cars and trucks in America alone, such as the 1931 V-16 Cadillac, the 1949 Buick Roadmaster and the 1953 Chevrolet Corvette. In addition the facility also houses 15,000 lineal feet of archives and record storage. In addition to the tour, attendees will be treated to a special presentation by Donald J. Smolenski of General Motors and Greg Wallace, Manager of the General Motors Heritage Center.
The event will kick off at 5:30 p.m. with a short presentation followed by self guided tours.
