Joppel's Online Tool Seeks to Make Medicare Plan Choices Easier for Seniors

Joppel Corp., a company created to help people make informed decisions about their health insurance needs, recently unveiled its free Medicare-plan search tool designed to search Medicare Advantage, Medicare Prescription Drug (Part D) and Medicare Supplement (Medigap) health plans from all insurance carriers to match consumers to the plan that fits their coverage needs.

Created through a collaboration of experts in senior health care, e-commerce and usability design, Joppel leads consumers through simple questionnaires to identify the prescriptions they need, the type of plan they want and premium and co-pay costs they’re comfortable paying.

Users can view up to three plans at a time in a side-by-side view.

“Joppel is the first of its kind,” said Joppel CEO Kathy Feeny.  “It’s a tool for consumers and caregivers that breaks down barriers to understanding Medicare plans and their costs.  It narrows the filed from hundreds to a handful of plans.  At Joppel, consumers can compare plans from any carrier, talk to each other during the process, and confidently select the right combination of coverage and costs.”

During the search process, consumers can invite up to four co-browsers for assistance.

Joppel, based in California, was founded in 2007 and launched the beta version of its site in November 2008 to help consumers choose 2009 Medicare plans.
