Interesting Science For Interested Kids

If you have a child interested in science, the website Science News for Kids may have some material to give him or her a chance to learn about the latest discoveries in science and math, in kid and parent friendly language.
In the most recent issue, a mathematician took on the issue of how many times you need to shuffle a deck of cards in order to play a fair game of old maid. Through computerized simulations, mathematical formulas, and lots of trial and error shuffling and dealing, they learned that 7 is the magic number of shuffles to have a fair deck.
