Fatal Accident On I-94

The winter storm that hit Metro Detroit early Tuesday morning is blamed for a fatal accident that left one woman dead.

Michigan State Police say a woman died after the car she was driving was hit by a garbage truck on eastbound I-94 near Michigan Avenue in Ypsilanti.

The freeway has been re-opened, but was closed for several hours as troopers investigated.

Two others in the car and truck were taken to area hospitals.

Roads were slick at the time of the crash because of the snow, according to Michigan State Police troopers at the Ypsilanti Post.

An investigation is ongoing.

State Police advise drivers to slow down.
