The three little letters, GPA – standing for Grade Point Average, can be very important to your child’s future. While parents and kids stress over test scores, colleges look primarily at high school grades when looking at an applicant.
Since the school year has not started yet, it would be a good time to talk to your child about what they think they will achieve next year, and how they can take concrete steps to achieve their goals.
While most kids set high goals for themselves, they often lack the day-to-day behaviors needed to meet them. Help your child plan small steps – handing in homework, studying for tests, talking to teachers when they do not understand material – that can make the difference between being on the Honor Roll and sitting in summer school next June.
