While summer is still here, it is a good time to get outside and learn about Michigan’s geography. A great way to do this is the carousel at Rivard Park, on the Detroit river, where your child can learn about the Great Lakes.
On the Carousel, kids can ride a variety of sea creatures from the Great Lakes, including sturgeon, egrets and walleye. A map of the St. Lawrence Seaway is there too, so you can trace the water’s path from the Great Lakes to the Atlantic ocean.
Inset in the plaza is a map of the greater Detroit Area, so you can take a few steps and walk from Detroit to Windsor, Southfield or Gross Ille.
