Lansing (WWJ) -- Could Democratic Michigan Governor Jennifer Granholm soon be heading to the Supreme Court? It's a possibility, depending on the outcome of the Presidential election next month.
Former solicitor general under the Clinton Administration Walter Dellinger told the Washington Post that Granholm is on a short list of five people to replace an outgoing Supreme Court Justice if Democrat Barack Obama is elected President.
WWJ Lansing Bureau Chief Tim Skubick is not surprised. "With every governor that we've covered over the last 38 years, speculation like this has always come up. Remember Jim Blanchard was going to go to a Clinton Administration, and he did. John Engler was going to go to a Reagan Administration, he didn't. Now the speculation about the governor on the Supreme Court."
Dellinger said up to three justices could step down over the next four years.
According to Skubick, Granholm has said she wants to finish out her final two years as Governor.
