Fugitive Mom Back In Michigan

Detroit (WWJ)  -- A suburban housewife, arrested in San Diego 32 years after she escaped from a Detroit-area prison, is back in Michigan to serve out the rest of her sentence on drug charges.

Susan Lefevre arrived at the Robert Scott Correctional Facility in  Plymouth Township Tuesday afternoon, according to Russ Marlan, with the Michigan Department of Corrections.  He says the warden has spoken to Lefevre and she seemd to be doing well.

The 53-year-old mother of three was arrested on April 24th outside her home in an affluent area of San Diego. Authorities say she never told her husband and children about her criminal past.

Michigan officials say LeFevre could be eligible for parole after serving about 5 1/2 years. Her attorney has said he plans to ask that her sentence be commuted by Governor Jennifer Granholm.
