Fuel Cell Maker Gets New HQ

Ann Arbor-based Adaptive Materials Inc. will hold an open house at its new headquarters and manufacturing plant Friday, May 16 from 9:30 to 11 a.m.

Michelle Crumm, chief business officer, will make remarks about the company's growth and plans for the future around 10 a.m., and tours of the building will follow.

Adaptive Materials' new home is at 5500 S. State St., just south of the Ann Arbor airport.

Adaptive Materials is working on small, portable solid oxide fuel cells that are fueled by commonly available materials like propane. They're intended as longer-lived replacements for batteries in high-demand applications like military gear.

The company received $6 million from the Michigan 21st Century Jobs Fund to support its growth.
