FBI Contacts More Council Members

Detroit (WWJ)  -- Detroit City Councilwoman Martha Reeves says the F.B.I. has tried to contact her regarding their Synagro sludge bribery investigation.

Reeves says F.B.I. Agents left their business cards at her Downtown apartment building but she was not home.

Reeves was among the five Council members who voted last year to approve the $47 million Synagro sludge contract. gents have been questioning some members about their possible involvement in the Synagro deal.

Reeves says she has no regrets, and nothing to worry about.

"Nobody's offered me money for any vote. In fact, I got elected with my own money." Reeves said. "I have not been bought," she said.

"I went to the Southwest meeting, the community meeting, and was told there that they would improve the conditions and make it more satisfactory for the residents in that area," Reeves said.

"And I don't think I need attorney. I don't feel that there's any reason for an attorney, or any legal advice," she said.

The F.B.I. investigation is said to include four Council members and council staff and people outside of government.  Two Synagro representatives have been suspended along with Fox 2 anchor woman, Fachon Stinger.
