Ex Assistant Prosecutor Convicted

Southfield (WWJ)  -- A former Macomb County assistant prosecutor has been found guilty on charges stemming from an internet sex sting.

The Michigan Attorney General's office says 54-year old Steven Waclawski of St. Clair Shores was convicted in Macomb County Circuit Court on nine charges of criminal sexual conduct and using a computer to produce child sexually abusive material.  Waclawski faces life in prison when he's sentenced June 26th.

Charges were filed in 2006 after Waclawski was arrested in Illinois where he traveled to have sex with a minor who turned out to be an undercover officer.

Search warrants on Waclawski's home and office turned up hundreds of images of male child pornography, according to the Attorney General's office.  Three victims have been identified.

Waclawski worked in the Macomb County Prosecutor's office from 1986 to 1990.
