Defense robotics group to meet in Troy: The Michigan Chapter of the National Defense Industrial Association will hold a Robotic Vehicle Life Cycle conference Aug. 12 and 13 at the Troy Marriott. IRobot, the company behind the Roomba robotic vacuum cleaner as well as defense robots, is a major sponsor and along with other sponsors will demonstrate some of its latest robots for the military. IRobot founder and chairman Helen Greiner will be among the speakers, along with U.S. Sen. Carl Levin, D-Mich., and military robotics leaders, such as Maj. Gen. Fred Robinson, Commanding General of the U.S. Army Research, Development, and Engineering Command; Maj. Gen. Scott West, Commanding General of the U.S. Army TACOM Life Cycle Management Command; Dr. Grace Bochenek, Director of the U.S. Army Tank, Automotive Research, Development and Engineering Center; Col.
