The early childhood years, the time from birth through age eight, provide an opportunity for parents to help children develop skills they will use for learning throughout their lives.
Some ways to help children develop mathematical skills include; counting the number of shoes in your house, finding the biggest and smallest shoe, finding ten circles, ten squares, ten triangles and ten rectangles, setting the table, measuring household items using a ruler or tape measurer and doing simple addition and subtraction as you watch sports on television.
