Southfield (WWJ) -- In the tough economy, many people are cutting back -- or even cutting out -- their prescription medications to save some much needed cash. But a local pharmacist says it doesn't have to be that way.
WWJ Newsradio 950 spoke with Marlene Thorne, of Mercy Primary Care Center in Detroit , who says many big drug companies like Astra Zeneca offer help for those in need.
Thorne says, while many of these companies offer help to low-income individuals, Astra Zeneca has recently expanded their program to those who have been laid off and have become uninsured.
"They have medications, for asthma, for some psychiatric disorders. for cancer. Pfizer has medications for blood pressure, for pain, for seizures, for cholesterol," Thorne said.
"There are so many of these medications available. It's just finding the company and talking with your doctor," she said.
