Developers Seek Help for $100M Convention Center

Chesterfield Township (WWJ)  -- Developers are asking for help from the state of Michigan to build a new $100 million convention center in Chesterfield Township.

They're requesting a grant or tax credit from the Michigan Economic Growth Authority (MEGA) to offset construction costs.  Meantime, state lawmakers are considering a tax break for the project that could mean savings of up to $300,000 a year.

The project is expected to create about 2,000 Michigan jobs.
