Detroit (WWJ) -- Fifty Detroit Public Schools employees are clearing out their desks after being receiving pink-slips this week.
Although as many as 250 teachers could get pink-slipped, 50 non-teaching personnel were told this week their jobs are being cut.
Forty social workers, six school psychologists and four speech therapists. Forty-six of the layoffs are effective November 30th. The speech therapists were called back from retirement. Their lay-offs are effective immediately
Meanwhile, 140 school bus drivers who assist Special Education students are also expected to be laid-off.
