Detroit Medical Center to Partner with my1HIE

The Detroit Medical Center, with eight hospitals and more than 3,000 physicians, Monday announced an agreement  with Bingham Farms-based my1HIE (My One Health Information Exchange) LLC.

DMC hospitals and affiliated physicians will now be a part of a growing network of electronically connected healthcare professionals across southeast Michigan. This relationship extends the integration of the electronic medical records echnology, already in use at the DMC.

DMC is the first and only Michigan hospital system with 100 percent doctors’ computerized orders, 100 percent medication scanning and a fully implemented EMR program. This partnership extends the DMC electronic reach to physicians across the metropolitan region.

"DMC was the first hospital system in the state to fully integrate EMR technology," said DMC president and CEO Michael Duggan. "Our 'paperless' electronic medical records system has been in place for more than two years. This agreement with my1HIE gives participating physicians access to our hospitals, physicians and specialists and solidifies our place as a national leader in pioneering technology, designed to improve patient care, quality and safety.”

My1HIE uses a physician organization distribution model for easier adoption and increased success. Physicians constantly collaborate with each other and practice as networks of physicians. Working with physician organizations and hospitals allows my1HIE to bring up an entire network of doctors which will improve the coordination of clinical information, enhance patient care and reduce the cost of health care.

"The DMC hospitals, physicians and specialists working together with United Physicians and Olympia physician organizations speaks volumes in today’s health care community,” said Steven Grant, M.D., president and CEO of my1HIE. “Clinically, DMC is one of the country’s leading hospital systems and is the leading hospital system in EMR adoption. We applaud their decision to embrace the my1HIE technology and connect their more than 3,000 affiliated physicians access to the areas largest health information exchange.”

Participating physicians and hospitals use My Workspace, the physician Web portal, to connect to the Health Information Exchange, share patient information and access clinical applications, including e-prescribing, patient registries, e-labs and secure, HIPAA-compliant communication tools through a single sign-on interface.  My Workspace was designed by physicians for physicians and developed with and secured by Covisint, a subsidiary of Compuware.
