DSO Director Slatkin Recovering

Detroit (WWJ)  -- The Detroit Symphony Orchestra's music director was recovering in a hospital in the Netherlands Tuesday after undergoing an angioplasty.

A spokesman says Leonard Slatkin began to experience chest pains before a performance in Rotterdam, but went ahead with the show anyway before his surgery.

Slatkin, age 65,  is still on the schedule to conduct two performances of the DSO in November, but the orchestra is making contingency plans, just in case.
