Detroit (WWJ/AP) -- Detroit City Councilwoman Sheila Cockrel has been called to testify before a federal grand jury investigating the city's $47 million sludge deal with a Houston company.
Cockrel tells The Detroit News that the subpoena doesn't specify the topic. She previously gave the grand jury her file on the sludge recycling contract signed with Synagro Technologies Inc. last November.
Cockrel said in the past she is not a target of the FBI probe.
Cockrel says she has been scheduled to testify Wednesday but that may change because her lawyer has a previous commitment.
The grand jury has questioned other council members about the deal. Synagro has said it's not a target.
The FBI doesn't comment on ongoing investigations.
