ConnecTech Port Huron's Expo Has Charitable Focus

ConnecTech Tech Port Huron and Expo Exhibitors will be giving back to the community in three ways during the 2008 Tech Expo, set for Thursday, May 15 from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the Thomas Edison Inn in Port Huron.

The first is a canned food drive called “Fill the Beetle To Feed the People,” to benefit the Salvation Army. The goal is to collect enough canned goods to fill a Volkswagen Beetle. Each person who brings canned food will be entered into a drawing to win an iPod, donated by Nerds on Site.

The second is an ink cartridge recycling drive to benefit the new YMCA. Those who attend are asked to drop off their empty printer cartridges at the Rapid Refill booth in the exhibit area the day of the event.

The third is a recycling and data security effort. Shred-Corp will have a truck on-site and will shred any documents attendees bring with them to the event.

Along with these charitable happenings, the 2008 Tech Expo will feature a luncheon with keynote speakers from Microsoft, educational seminars, a hands-on technology playground sponsored by Best Buy and many exhibit booths.

The cost to attend the luncheon is $35 for non-members and $25 for members.

Walking through the exhibit area and attending the seminars is free and open to the public. Seats are limited in the seminars.

Purchase luncheon tickets and sign up in advance for seminars at www.connectechporthuron.org.

The event is sponsored by Sprint; Radio First; Nerds on Site; Precision Computers; Frank Jenio Training and Consulting, Best Buy, Comcast, Ready, Set Mail, SC4; and is supported by Microsoft; Information Security RSA; and Analysts International.
