Comcast Boosts HD, Switches Basic Cable Channels to Digital

Comcast announced the addition of 15 new High Definition channels to its HD lineup in the communities of Birmingham, Beverly Hills, Bingham Farms, loomfield Township, Bloomfield Hills, Dearborn, Dearborn Heights and Franklin -- the first wave of a massive HD expansion made possible by the company’s ongoing digital network enhancement.

As part of its “World of More” digital upgrade, Comcast is digitizing channels 29 through 72 in the two communities to clear the way for additional HD programming, more On Demand programming, faster Internet speeds and other benefits. The 15 newly launched HD channels represent the latest benefits to local Comcast customers in these towns.

In Dearborn and Dearborn Heights, the first wave of 13 analog channels were digitized last week, with the remaining analog channels slated to go digital on Sept. 17. In the Oakland County communities, the date is Sept. 10.

Comcast also Wednesday moved 27 analog cable networks to its digital lineup in the communities of Southfield, Lathrup Village, Oak Park, West Bloomfield Township, Keego Harbor, Orchard Lake, Sylvan Lake and Royal Oak Township, clearing the way for even more On Demand and HD and other digital programming for local customers.  These communities have already seen the launch of teh 15 new HD channels.

Customers who have been watching these analog cable channels without digital equipment should contact Comcast now to receive the digital equipment that is available to them at no additional cost.  Customers can visit www.comcast.com/digitalnow, call (877) 634-4434 or stop by Comcast’s local service center in Dearborn (5070 Schaefer) to receive their equipment.  Comcast’s digital network enhancement does not affect its Limited Basic Cable customers.
