Altair gets deal in Italy: Troy-based Altair Engineering Inc. said Monday that Prima Industrie, an Italian developer of laser systems for cutting, welding and drilling parts, will implement Altair's HyperWorks computer aided engineering software platform into its design development process. The HyperWorks suite and OptiStruct, the leading design synthesis optimization technology, will be used to optimize existing cutting machines and to develop new two-dimensional machines in the future. Prima has nearly 600 employees, with manufacturing in Italy, the United States and China. The company has more than 2,500 systems installed worldwide with more than 1,000 customers.
