Car Slams Into Washtenaw County Home

Superior Township (WWJ)  -- A Superior Township family watching TV had some real-life drama land in their living room.

A car crashed into their home just after 1 a.m. Tuesday.  Perry Napalou had just gone to bed and left the rest of his family downstairs.

Napalou told WWJ's Ron Dewey that just five minutes later,  he heard a crash and felt the house move, and he knew what had just happened.

"A vehicle was all the way through, against the chair of my brother, it had just stopped.  My mother was right there next to the vehicle on the couch where it just missed her, but my father luckily was just already out of the room.  The car actually hit that chair where he was," Napalou said.

Napalou said his brother had to be treated for breathing problems from all the dust, while his mother had some minor lacerations.

Napalou said that the small SUV carrying four people may have been the subject of an attempted traffic stop, and was apparently evading police.

Napalou said he's counting his blessing this morning.  "I instantly knew that God had put his hand upon this and stopped them from being killed."

Washtenaw County Sheriff deputies are looking for the driver of the vehicle.
