Car Hits Woman, Child In Ferndale

Ferndale (WWJ)  -- A mother and her daughter were hospitalized Friday afternoon after they were hit by a car in Ferndale around noon.

Ferndale police Lt. William Wilson says the force of the collision tossed the two victims 30 feet into the grassy area between the north and southbound lanes of Woodward Avenue near Nine Mile.

Wilson says the car was traveling south on Woodward when it suddenly swerved toward the median, striking the woman and a stroller holding the child.

The car's driver also was taken to the hospital.

Names and conditions aren't being released at this time.
