Ontario public health officials are looking for 27 people who could have contracted tuberculosis during a Greyhound bus trip from Toronto to Detroit in late August.
Ontario's chief medical officer of health said Thursday a passenger on the bus had infectious tuberculosis and may have passed it on by coughing while in close contact with others.
Dr. David Williams says the risk of infection is low, but authorities are emphasizing the need to be tested.
The Detroit-bound bus left Toronto Aug. 31 with stops in London, Ontario, and Windsor, Ontario.
The passenger with tuberculosis was detained at the Windsor/Detroit border by American customs officials.
