Big Downtown Development Announced

More new development coming to downtown Detroit.

Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick joined by developers announced a 150-million dollar plan to construct a glass and steel building facing Campus Martius Park.  It\'ll be called the Cadillac Center and will feature apartments, public park, retail and a cinema.

Mayor Kilpatrick says when he came into office in 2002 the whole idea of Campus Martius hadn\'t been developed. "...the last piece to Campus Martius, which is the Monroe block -- the most exciting, I believe, of all the developments because of the refreshing new type of architecture, 24-7 entertainment, dining and shopping destination it will become in our city," the mayor said.

Construction is expected to start fall of 2009 and should be complete by 2011.
