LINC announces summer scholarship winner: LINC, Lansing's IT development association, Monday announced the winner of their summer 2009 Scholarship. The LINC Scholarship was established to encourage and support continued education of information technology  in the Lansing region. The award is a $1,000 scholarship for use at one of its educational partners -- Lansing Community College, Michigan State University, or New Horizons Learning Center. The scholarship may only be applied to technology courses.  The summer 2009 scholarship was awarded to Matt Hall, a student at Michigan State University.  Hall is also a member of LINC through his employer, Web Ascender. Through his position at Web Ascender Hall creates Web sites for different businesses.  He has spent personal time helping local churches, friends, and family with their technology needs. Recently, Hall volunteered for the Lansing Give Camp where software developers collaborated to help non-profit organizations develop Web sites and software solutions. The award will be formally presented at the next LINC meeting, Thursday, June 25, at 5:30 p.m., at the Radisson in downtown Lansing.  The public is welcome to attend.  The meeting format is an open networking social.  More at www.milinc.org.

P2R gets Renaissance awards: Livonia-based P2R Associates Tuesday announced it received two prestigious Renaissance Awards for its informative and engaging www.p2rassociates Web site redesign. The IABC Renaissance Awards are sponsored by the Detroit Chapter of the International Association of Business Communicators. The Renaissance Awards program recognizes excellence in communication in all functional areas including strategic communications management, corporate communications, public and media relations, marketing, writing, design, advertising and multimedia. P2R winning campaigns include an award of merit for electronic and digital communication and an award of merit for interactive media design for the Web site, which has the title "Perception to Reality." Media 1 Wins Hermes Creative Award: Grand Haven-based Media 1 has won a 2009 Hermes gold award for excellence in web animation for the "Better Business Outcomes Through Training" title developed for Hewlett Packard Education Services. The five-minute animation featured services offered by the Education Services division within HP in a fast-paced highly engaging and graphical presentation. The animation is featured on the Division web site and is used in sales presentations to give potential customers a quick introduction to the HP Education Services value proposition. The Hermes Creative Awards is an international competition for creative professionals involved in the concept, writing and design of marketing and communication programs and print, visual and audio materials. Entries come from corporate marketing and communication departments, advertising agencies, PR firms, design shops and freelancers. More at
