LANSING (AP) -- A federal appeals court has dismissed attorney Geoffrey Fieger's lawsuit against Michigan's attorney general, secretary of state and a state Supreme Court justice.
Fieger, his law firm and an advertising firm had accused Republican Attorney General Mike Cox and others of vindictive prosecution. But the 6th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals on Tuesday upheld a lower court's decision dismissing the suit.
The case stems from Cox's 2005 campaign-finance probe of Fieger, who spent $457,000 on TV ads bashing Republican-nominated Justice Stephen Markman in the 2004 election.
Cox later turned the investigation over to a special prosecutor, who said criminal charges weren't merited.
