Another Provider Of Those Fast Ford Data Connections

Turns out there's more than one way for an auto supplier to save big bucks linking to Ford Motor Co. for data, realtime collaboration and more.

Last week's story on a novel competitor to the ANX eBusiness network failed to mention that there are more compeititors in the market.

Actually, Oak Park-based Bullseye Telecom was the first to provide the service with partners Incat, the Tata Technologies-owned manufacturing technology provider with its North American headquarters in Novi.

Under the partnership, Bullseye provides connectivity while Incat provides hardware, service and ongoing management.

The two companies' test case was a supplier called Oxbow engineering, which saved $1,300 a month while getting twice the speed of its prior provider. That project dates back to August 2007, according to Frederick A. Censullo, a senior account executive at Bullseye.

In late 2007, the two companies brought their first Tier One supplier on board. Censullo said the application was an even better deal for a big supplier, because they require more bandwidth, making the savings even bigger -- $2,200 a month for a 10-megabyte pipe vs. $15,000 a month from ANX.

The key application being transmitted over the connection is Teamcetner Engineering, which requires high speed, reliability and low latency in a data connection. The offering's service level agreement calls for 99.95 percent uptime.

Censullo and Michael Pathe, director of services delivery at Incat Novi, said the partnershp now has 35 suppliers online.

Censullo said the service allows smaller suppliers to avoid using certified data service providers if they can't afford ANX. And smaller suppliers can use the service to handle their phone, e-mail and Internet service over the same connection, at a price of $300 to $600 per month.

Censullo said the service is in talks with Chrysler, but has not yet made much headway with General Motors Corp.
