Alzheimer?s Association Makes New Caregiver Tool Available
Anne Osmer Reporting Reporting
The Alzheimer’s Association recently unveiled CareSource, a new section on alz.org where caregivers can find tools for Alzheimer’s-related decision-making and care.
Included in the online suite of services is Senior Housing Finder, the first free, nationwide dementia-specific senior housing database, powered by SNAPforSeniors. The Web-based tool allows users to search and screen senior housing options throughout the United States by location, facility, name, license type, availability, care services and lifestyle amenities. It also allows users to view the dementia-care levels a facility provides, consistent with the seven stages of Alzheimer’s disease progression.
The CareSource pages also include:
A link to CareFinder, the association’s Web pages with information about types of dementia care, planning ahead, care options, coordination of care and additional support and resources;
Lotsa Helping Hands, a tool for creating a private, online calendar to coordinate care;
A caregivers message board;
Caregiving 101, a portal learning options for Alzheimer caregiving.

The Alzheimer’s Association is the leading voluntary health organization in Alzheimer care, support and research. To find out more about Alzheimer’s disease, call the association’s 24-hour hotline at (800) 272-3900, or visit alz.org.
