Located at the Orchard Lake St. Mary's Schools and voted one of the top 100 Art Shows in the Country, the 6th annual Orchard Lake Fine Art Show will be taking place July 25th-27th this year.
On Friday, July 25th, an artist preview party will be taking place from 6-9 pm. Sponsored by Caesar's Windsor and Observer and Eccentric Newspapers, the party is the first opportunity to preview and purchase the artwork before it is open to the public. For only $25, guests are invitited to preview the work and enjoy comped drinks and hors d-oeovres. There is free admission on Saturday, July 26th from 10 am-7 pm and Sunday, July 27th from 11am-5pm. However, there is a $6 parking fee which helps to support the Orchard Lake Schools.
There are artist awards given out totaling $2,500 including prizes for best of show, awards of excellence and purchase awards. Live artists demonstrations will be given including glass blowing, painting and drawing art demonstrations. As an added bonus, participants can learn these techniques of how this type of art work is made. Free, live entertainments will be on the Main Stage including Sheila Landis Trio, The Gratitute Steel Band, Brazil and Behond and more.
There are numerous activities for children in the Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Michigan. The Family area offers the budding artist a chance to participate in plaster painting, t-shirt tie dying, sandy candy making and candle making. Also, the 2nd Annual Youth Art Competition will be taking place and all of the entries will be publicly displayed throughout the weekend in "Target's Youth Art Competition" tent.
